Tips for a Listing That Sells
Getting enquiries quickly comes down to three things: an honest description, good photos, and a fair price. Here is how to get all three right.
Write a Description That Answers the Buyer's Questions
Include the make, model, year of manufacture, hours on the meter (for tractors and self-propelled equipment), and a straight assessment of condition. If there are known faults, state them — buyers who discover problems after travelling to inspect will not complete the deal, and honest listings generate faster, more serious enquiries.
Mention service history if available, any recent maintenance or repairs, and whether the item comes with any attachments or accessories.
Upload Clear, Real Photos
Photograph the equipment in good light from multiple angles — front, rear, both sides, the cab interior if applicable, the hour meter, and any areas of wear or damage. Use your phone camera outdoors rather than in a dark shed. Listings with five or more photos receive significantly more enquiries than those with one or none.
Do not use stock images or photos from the manufacturer’s brochure. Buyers want to see the actual item they are considering.
Price It to Move
Check what comparable equipment is currently listed for on AgriTrader SA before setting your price. Overpriced listings attract no enquiries and expire unsold. A realistic price — even slightly below market — will generate multiple enquiries quickly and often results in a faster sale at a price closer to what you wanted.
